Early Education and Child Care Professionals will find ECELS recommended resources about Professional Development listed here. Users will find credentialed, reliable sources of information about health and safety via these ECELS lists that offers links and other contact information for those that seem most helpful. Pennsylvania Early Education and Child Care Practitioners may use different types of professional development that ECELS-Healthy Child Care PA offers: Self-Learning Modules, Workshops, Audioconferences and Webinars. In addition, in collaboration with Northampton Community College, ECELS offers a 3 credit college course for early educators to learn how to be Child Care Health Advocates. All offerings are listed on this website. ECELS awards state-authorized professional development credit for successful completion of professional development activities. Click here for a brochure that lists many of the topics of the Self-Learning Modules and Workshops and the credit available for each. Look for notations on many of the offerings that indicate that these activities meet the Keystone STARS Level 2 Performance Standard for Health and Safety.
Make requests for workshops and self-learning modules following the instructions for the item. Some Self-Learning Modules are entirely on-line; others include audio-visual materials that ECELS provides. All Self-Learning Modules require completion of a Registration Form and payment of $10 per person for review of the module for credit.
ECELS arranges on-site health and safety workshops for early education and child care providers in Pennsylvania. Workshops can be subsidized if funding is available, or arranged on a fee-for-service basis. To learn more about which topics the state has approved to meet the STAR Level 2 Performance Standard for Health and Safety, click on the title of the workshop. If a workshop on a health or safety topic is desired that is not specifically listed, ask ECELS to arrange for a workshop provided by a health professional who is an expert on this topic.
